Travis Smith spotlight

Ever since we’ve spotted Travis Smith couple of seasons ago, he has been on our fashion radar, but if you want to check out his latest work and newest Versace campaign, simply click here, to find out bit more about it. Before we tell you about his other fashion projects, and in case you didn’t know, Travis wasn’t always dreaming about becoming a model and has been a professional Body Border for 13 years now. He grew up in Hawaii and started body boarding when he was only 7 years old. Soon after starting to practice the sport, body boarding became his daily routine. At the early age of 10, he qualified for the National Championship in California, in the “18 and under division”. By the time he was 13, he was already a three time state champion and the highlight of his career (at that age) was being the youngest to ever compete at the most dangerous wave in the world. He had to compete on the professional level, at the world famous wave called Pipeline, on the North Shore of Oahu. It was a life changing experience that turned him on to big waves, for the rest of his career. By the time Travis graduated high school, he was 3 times National Champion in “18 and under division”.

At the age of 18, he was discovered in a shopping mall by a model scout, but had a tough decision to make and choose between passion for being a body boarder, or becoming a model. He ultimately decided to accept, since he liked the idea of traveling the world, meeting new people and living on his own, while working in the modeling industry. Travis has been working as a model for two seasons now and for this past year, has been travelling throughout Asia, booking many editorials and runway shows. He is now based in New York and it looks like everything is paying off for him.

Travis has booked his first ever campaign for Versus Versace in April of 2012. In late June, that very same year, he also did the Men’s Spring/Summer Versace runway show.

The latest campaign he did was, for the Versace Fall Winter 2014 season, shot by Mert & Marcus, with top female models, Kate Moss and Saskia de Brauw. Travis is now working with Versace consistently and is looking forward to a big future in modeling.
