Versace Fall 2014 by Mert & Marcus
The new Versace Fall Winter 2014 campaign has been released, starring everybody’s favorite UK Supermodel, Kate Moss. Kate has been a long time friend of Donatella’s and late Gianni Versace, as well as the companies favorite model. Therefore, choosing Ms Moss, for the Versace newest advertising campaign, seamed like a pretty natural decision. Besides Kate, who appears in two images, one, where she’s wearing just a black and yellow coat and another one, where she simply has three colorful handbags, strategically placed to cover the nude body. One more modelling star, who is the part of the latest Versace campaign, is a Dutch top model Saskia de Brauw. But, can we just pause for a minute, or two, or even longer, and let you know about the Versace boys, featured in the newest campaign as well.
One of my favorite male models of the moment, Travis Smith, originally from Hawai and based out of New York, where he’s signed with DNA Models, has been personally chosen by Donatella and she did make an excellent decision of casting him once again. Since Travis has been a face of Versus and is starring alongside Danish model Matt Trethe, who appears in one of the campaign looks as well.
The campaign was shot by the beloved photography duo, Mert Alas & Marcus Piggot, who are photography partners since 1995, and who’ve already done quite a few Kate Moss Vogue covers and are really good friends with Ms Moss. The art director of the campaign was Giovanni Bianco, who is best known for his work with Madonna, while Donatella stated on the main inspiration being – stripping it back to the raw power of the clothes and models.
Donatella also added, how there was no set, no distraction, just the provocation, glamour and attitude of Versace fashion. And Mert & Marcus have geniously transformed Kate and Saskia into these strong Versace characters.
