Main Shows, Prada video & Backstage Exclusive
For this Milan Men’s Fashion Week Spring 2014 season, we are more than pleased to have been able and feature some EXCLUSIVE backstage images, from the two, of the most important fashion shows. This time around we are talking Prada and Bottega Veneta. The shows were presented this past Sunday in Milan, and both of the shows are definitely on our fave shows list. Prada was really amazing and Miuccia Prada rarely disappoints (like never, right). She has put her new and fresh spin on summer dressing and went with quite an exotic theme for her latest menswear collection. Prada has showcased a lot of satin floral prints, that were clearly associated with her beloved period in history and yes, her fave fashion era, are the 40’s. Satin prints were paired with very traditional double breasted pin striped suits and of course all of that with a special Prada twist. And, as we just mentioned, she has clearly found her inspiration in the 40’s, but for the collection presentation she decided to showcase the classic carry on luggage pieces with bold designs, that she bravely mixed with some tropical florals and Hawaian girls style. All of that was a perfect backdrop for the runway stage and we’ve seen a lot of graphic prints of palm trees, postcard sunsets and water images as well. All of the classic looks were given a very special and quite fresh Prada interpretation and it all got mixed with sportswear influence as well. You were able to see a lot of boxer shorts and light shirts, that were based on the baseball jackets design with a big comeback of a retro bowling ball bag. Mrs Prada also presented some multi layered short sleeved knitwear pieces, that were worn over shirts, often made with some clashing prints, that you would not normally mix together – but with Prada that’s precisely what you do, you can mix something that you can only do with Prada. The color palette was real lovely and she has used some stronger colors, which would remind you of those stormy summer days, so she decided to mix a lot of grays, corals and even black tones and to contrast all of that, she again mixed quite a lot of brights, like yellow and terracotta, even the earthy brown tones, all once again paired with black.
We hope you are enjoying this EXCLUSIVE BACKSTAGE report and for this report, we have spoken again to our dear fashion friend and Make Up Artist, Katerina Brans, who was assisting on the Prada Menswear Spring 2014 Make Up team, which included 9 female models as well. While reporting for us from Milan, Katerina explained, how for the 9 girls/models main beauty focus was on a bare beautiful skin, with natural cheek color, that was coming through. Lip was created with a multiple layer, of different shades, with a result of a very natural beautiful soft petal stain, as if girls were wearing an invisible lipstick. Another feature were soft natural eyebrows, while the face was highlighted and at the end applied on, with a special moisturizer mixture, to achieve the high end glossy effect on the forehead, temples, nose and ears. The male models had the same treatment, except the lip stain, Katerina stated and added, how she really loved it all, since it was a such a beautiful show.

Bottega Veneta Spring Summer 2014 – BACKSTAGE EXCLUSIVE
For next Spring Summer 2014 season, Bottega Veneta has presented some sharp suits, but we must tell you how even the casual looks were quite dressed up with silky cravats and stylish funky loafers. There were plenty of knits, presented with sharp jumpers and cardigans but Thomas Maier also introduced a slightly edgy, vanilla colored leather moto-cycle jacket. The color palette was something that us girls could appreciate as well, so the collection was focused on understated masculine tones with shades of grey, burgundy, ivory and black. We must also say, how all the pieces looked so comfortable and laid back, but formal or casual, Maier has certainly offered something for every taste. And coming to the beauty look again, our Make Up Artist friend, Katerina, has informed us on some of the beauty directions for true Bottega Veneta men & boys, Bottega Veneta boys were clean shaved, well groomed with natural sophisticated eyebrows and had to have perfect, yet natural skin, with a little highlight.
